Welcome to the Avon-Grove Lions Club

Annual Christmas Party

We welcome 14-P District Governor Dave Smith and his wife Barb. He will be inducting our two newest Lions, Mike Reynolds and Mike Alft. We are pleased to have these two new Lions in our club.

Mike Alft has made a great contribution to our club already by creating a web site. It can be accessed at:

http://www.aglions.com/

This will be a very useful resource, both for current Lions looking for information, and for others interested in our club and what we do. Like any web site, www.aglions.com is a work in progress, and there are other pages yet to be written. Perhaps new Lion Mike Alft can get other Lions to help him with this work. A fully functional newsletter, when it can be, and is, used by all members makes a paper newsletter obsolete.

President John has donated 10 book cases to be used in the barn for Book Sales. The picture below shows how well this program works.

Lion Frank reports that the Leo Club has been planning many programs for Christmas including new socks, stuffed animals etc., for Migrant Ed. They are also buying a Lion Costume. Our club will pay $500 towards it and the Leos will pay $100.

Lion Ben is organizing the Christmas Tree Sale. This coming weekend will be the final one, and we should have some idea about how this is going. It is certainly better advertised around the area.

Lion Dave reports that the Ham Supper sold 508 tickets and collected $4,714 so far, including $161 for a food basket raffle.

District Governor Dave Smith
has set out the following goals:

1.  Each club in district to net 1 new member by June 1, ’06.

2.  Have one new fund raiser.

3.  Create one new Community Service Project.

4.  One new program – Success Stories.

Proud Lion Award – New members during first 8 months:

Attend a club Board meeting. Go on a visitation to another club.

Be involved in at least one club activity. Attend a Zone event. Bring a prospective member to a club meeting.

Leadership, education, developments – Out of 18 PA Lions Districts, 3 have no VDG.

Attend the 14P Spring Convention. It will feature leadership training. If we need help with International, as District Governor he has influence and will help us.

                                Take Pride in Activities

                                Have Fun
